Circa 1990's bracelet by Richard Begay Navajo (Deceased), an award-winning Artist. A beautiful example of his wonderful work in sterling and multi-stone inlay and overlay. At the center is the hogan, symbolizing so much of Navajo belief, with corn on one side and a Navajo Yei dancer on the other, this piece embodies what's at the heart of Navajo culture. Zuni Pueblo artist Quinton Quam created this very unusual and wonderful reversible link bracelet. Eight individual discs are inlaid on both sides, for a total of 15 birds and one butterfly encircling the wrist. Each disc measures approximately 3/4" in diameter. The link bracelet is 3/4" wide by 9 1/2" in length (including the finishing of lobster clasp and 3 rings for adjustable length). The links are: Eagle and Hummingbird, Flamingo and flying Bluejay, Raven and Snowy Owl, Oriole and Butterfly, Hummingbird and Bluebird, Gambel Quail and Red-headed Woodpecker, Cardinal and Bluejay, and Redbird with Roadrunner. The material Quinton used is all natural turquoise, red coral, mother-of-pearl, jet, lapid, spiny oyster, abalone, and Pacific coral.
