Deceased Navajo artist Tommy Singer and his wife Rosita created this circa 2000's graduated multi-color necklace with sterling silver buffalo pendant. The 21" necklace graduates from 3/8" down to 1/4" and features sterling silver barrels and beads, spiny oyster, gaspeite, turquoise, denim lapis, azurite and jet rondels. The Morning Singer Kachina represents dawn and early morning. The kachina appears at dawn during the Bean Dance (Powamuya) to announce news and sing songs to wake the village. The Kachina also passes out bean sprouts for people to eat.

Hopi legend prophesies the return of the Blue Star Kachina as heralding the return of the two brothers who helped create this world in the birthing time. The brothers, Poganghoya and Palongawhoya, are guardians of the earth, and the Blue Star Kachina will come to be with his nephews as they arrive to see who remembers the original teachings. Blue Star is the harbinger of a new day.

Hopi Pueblo artist Brian Smith (First Mesa) created this "Butterfly Maiden" Kachina. The Kachina is 10 1/2" in height by 2 7/8" wide by 2 1/2" deep. The Hopi Butterfly Maiden is a spirit being, or kachina, in Hopi mythology. She pollinates flowers and fields in the spring, and brings rain to the desert. She is also a role model for Hopi girls, teaching them the values of Hopi society. The Hopi butterfly symbol represents change and balance.
