Agnes Peynetsa
ZUNI POTTER

Agnes Peynetsa was introduced to pottery making in Jennie Laate's classes at Zuni High School. Agnes later was encouraged by Anderson Peynetsa, her brother, and Priscilla Peynetsa, her sister. Agnes married Berdel Soseeah, and they began macking pottery lizards or frogs. He sands the pots, and she paints them using a traditional yucca brush.

Agnes prefers white clay. They respectfully gather clay ironstone for their black paint at Nutria. They often go with Maria Soseeah, her mother-in law.
