Award-winning Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Joseph Coriz created this sterling silver and 14kt gold overlay design bracelet. The bracelet depicts a Rebirth scene (corn followed by a blessing basket blessing all animals). The migration of animals represent the journey of the Kewa (and the rest of us) to find our center place. Each of the animals carry a meaning we need in our lives. The bear tells us to walk our path with purpose, a metaphor for the bear emerging from hibernation, then seeking life, and us having dreams and pursuing them. The ram represents the security of a sturdy and increasing flock. The fish represents sacred water and sustaining family, clan and village. The armadillo is a symbol of Mother Earth. All are blessed by the power of celestial phenomena, which bring the sacred, healing water images and the corn at either end. And altogether they represent the spiritual and physical well-being for the Pueblo. The starry night above depicts the connectedness of the people to the celestial powers, to their heritage, and to their ancestors. And our center place is home, family, and village, sustained by sacred traditions, life-giving forces from the earth we share, by our dreams and by the love we give. The bracelet is 3/4" wide and will fit a 6 3/8" wrist, including a 1" opening.
